Divemaster Born and raised in Southern California, Katie grew up with a love for the ocean and a never-ending curiosity for its incredible inhabitants. It was this passion that brought her to San Diego to pursue a degree in Marine Biology at San Diego State University. While completing her undergrad, she became an AAUS certified scientific diver and conducted independent research on fish foraging strategies in eelgrass habitats, while volunteering in Dr. Kevin Hovels’ Marine Conservation Ecology Lab. After receiving her B. S. Degree in 2011, Katie worked for the next three years as a Marine Science Instructor for SEA CAMP San Diego, where she taught a variety of different age groups about the many wonders of the ocean. In addition to being a Divemaster for SD Expeditions, Katie currently works in her field of study doing field research and environmental consulting for a company called Coastal Environments based out of La Jolla, CA and she’s also a part of the Operations team at the SEA LIFE Aquarium in Carlsbad, CA.
